Herding Hill Farm is located close to Haltwhistle, Northumberland, just 1 mile from the Unesco World Heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall and its numerous forts, museums and spectacular walking. Herding Hill Farm is family-friendly, as well as being perfect for couples, we are dog-friendly too, with a large dog walk area on site. Herding Hill Farm is open all year round.  

A Platinum Pennant AA rated and Visit England 5-star site, Herding Hill Farm offers dog-friendly camping and glamping, with scenic and spacious touring and camping pitches with electric, a range of glamping accommodation, including glamping pods with hot tubs and a luxury Northumberland lodge with hot tub. Please note our lodge and Castle Pods are not pet-friendly. NEW for 2022 are our luxurious en-suite Castle Pod glamping pods with outdoor hot tub exclusively for adults.   

A 5-star amenity block with underfloor heating has an indoor camper’s kitchen and Information room, bath and showers, as well as a sauna available for private hire. Onsite is a children’s playground, laundry, animal petting farm and a BBQ hut for hire. There is also a small shop selling local Northumberland produce and vending machines for hot drinks and confectionery. A Dark Sky Friendly site, Herding Hill Farm is ideal for camping Northumberland and perfect for star gazing. We offer BBQs and fire pits for hire as well as a range of Optional Extras to make your trip perfect. Free WiFi and parking.  

Nestled close to Hadrian’s Wall and the small town of Haltwhistle, with excellent road and public transport links, Herding Hill Farm is an excellent base from which to explore Northumberland. The Roman forts of Birdsowald, Housesteads and Vindolanda are close by. The Northumberland campsite is located close to some of the best preserved and most spectacular sections of the Roman Wall and there are some excellent circular walks. The AD122 bus stops at the campsite entrance (in season) and allows guests to explore the attractions of Hadrian’s Wall without needing to use their car.  

Further afield, the castles and spectacular beaches of coastal Northumberland, the hills of the Cheviots and Northern Pennines, Kielder Forest and Kielder Water, as well as the market towns of Corbridge and Hexham, are all easily accessible for a day trip when staying at Herding Hill Farm. The train line from Haltwhistle connects the cities of Newcastle and Carlisle. The Lake District and Scottish borders are just a short drive.
