Camping Pods Peak District – FAQ’s

Can I park my car next to my Dove camping pods in Derbyshire?

We have a designated parking space for one vehicle a short walk from our Peak District pods and cars may be parked temporarily close to the Dove camping pods for unloading. There is no car parking immediately adjacent to our two Dove glamping pods which are located in a small grassy field. We have only a small visitors car park therefore we respectfully request that there is only one car per glamping booking. We cannot guarantee on-site parking for additional vehicles and there is only a small country lane with no street parking leading to our campsite Peak District.

What are the arrival and departure times for the Peak District glamping pods?

Your Buxton glamping pod will be ready from 3.30pm on arrival day. For late arrivals after 5pm, please call 07377 185355 to allow us to brief you in respect of key collection. We reserve the right to refuse access after 9pm to avoid disturbing other glamping pod guests. Departure time on your last day is 9.30am at the latest to allow us the necessary time to turn your peak district glamping pod around for our next guests.

Can I book camping in Buxton all year-round?

If you are looking for peak district campsites open all year, you will be pleased to know that Longnor Wood Dove camping pods are open between 2nd February and 3rd January including over Christmas and New Year making Longnor Wood perfect for Christmas glamping. Please note that our glamping pods do not have hot tubs. If you would like to enjoy glamping Derbyshire with hot tub why not try our Manifold static caravan hire with hot tub or one of our Peak District hot tub lodges?

Guests who do not will be asked to leave site immediately. Our adults only campsite Peak District is suitable for couples only and we do not accept group bookings. Maximum 4 adults per booking.

We accommodate one small well-behaved dog by prior arrangement in our dog friendly peak district glamping pods for an additional cleaning charge of £10 per stay. Please ensure that you select one of our dog-friendly camping pods when glamping in the peak district booking as not all of our Dove pods are dog-friendly.   We respectfully request that dogs are not allowed to sit or jump onto the bed in your peak district glamping pod and that dogs are never left unattended in the Dove pod for any length of time in case they become distressed or are a nuisance to other guests. Dogs must always be kept on a short lead when walking around our site. At the entrance, we have a large dog walk and dog exercise area, as well as a wooded area perfect for letting dogs off the lead. Our wardens can recommend several other walks suitable for dog walking in the local area and are able to advise as to local dog friendly Peak District pubs and attractions.

Are your glamping pods and warm?

Yes! Our Dove glamping pods are insulated to retain the heat and have under-floor heating and so are available for glamping all-year round.

Is there public transport to Longnor Wood glamping?

Our peak district pods at Longnor Wood are located in a peaceful rural location. A car is strongly advised if you are staying in one of our camping pods in Derbyshire. The small village of Longnor is around a 2-mile walk across open countryside and would not be recommended after dark as the narrow roads are unlit and there are no pavements. The nearest train station is Buxton, a 20-minute drive from our adults only campsite.  Having your own transport is an advantage when glamping in Buxton if you want to make the most of the beautiful Peak District countryside and visit local attractions. We offer discounted tickets for Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall at our Longnor Wood Reception.

Where are your nearest supermarkets?

We recommend that you bring with you what you need for Buxton glamping. We stock a small selection of basic essentials and local produce in our licensed shop, including milk, frozen goods, sundries, wine, beer and a selection of local ales and gin. Newspapers can be pre-ordered by 5pm the previous evening.   The nearest town, Buxton, a 20-minute drive, has an Aldi, a Morrison’s and an Iceland. There is also a range of larger supermarkets in Bakewell and Leek, both around a 20-minute drive.

What is there to do when Longnor Wood glamping?

Our picturesque 5-star glamping site for adults only is ideally placed to explore the Peak District. As a tranquil park we offer our guests the opportunity to relax and unwind and many guests choose not to venture too far from their camping pods peak district. Longnor Wood is located a 20-minute drive from Buxton and Bakewell, with Matlock, Chatsworth House, Heights of Abraham, Poole cavern and Haddon Hall all being an easy drive.   The Peak District is perfect for walking and cycling. Our adults only campsite peak district is only a short drive from most of the famous Peak District trails, including the Tissington Trail, Manifold Trail and Monsal Trail. Beautiful Dovedale is easily accessible by car within 30 minutes.  Relaxing in our beautiful surroundings when dog friendly glamping may also suit. We are perfect for a Peak District romantic weekend break. Longnor Wood is beautifully landscaped with lovely views and our low noise policy means you can be guaranteed peace and quiet to relax. Facilities on-site are kept deliberately low-key to maintain our peaceful environment. We have a Book Exchange in our Information Point if you fancy reading something different whilst relaxing in your Dove peak district pod.

What is the nearest pub serving food?

The small village of Longnor is around 2 miles away and is accessible by hiking across fields and open countryside. It would not be suitable in the dark. We do not recommend walking down the road into Longnor as there are no pavement, cars can travel fast and the road is unlit.  Unfortunately the cafe and pub in Longnor are both now closed. There is a fish and chip shop but you should check the opening hours as these can vary.

There is an abundance of great Peak District pubs just a short drive from Longnor Wood. Our favourites for great food include The Pack Horse Inn (01298 83618) 2.5 miles, The Winking Man 4 miles (01538 300361), The Royal Oak (01298 83288) 4.5 miles, The Greyhound Inn (01298 84782) 5 miles, The Bulls Head (01629 812372) 6 miles, The Devonshire Arms (01298 84884) 7 miles and The Charles Cotton Hotel (01298 84229) 8 miles.  Longnor Wood is therefore a great Peak District campsite near pubs.  Since the pandemic many of the pubs are operating with reduced opening hours, particularly mid-week, so we would always advise phoning ahead to check and booking if it is likely to be busy. Our wardens can also help you do this, just enquire at our Longnor Wood Reception.

Do you accept Stag/Hen Parties at your adult only campsite Peak District?

Sorry, we do not accept stag or hen parties at our Longnor Wood Tranquil Park. As a low noise policy site, we have couples who book with us for some quality time. We do not accept group bookings. Maximum 4 adults travelling together.

Can I enjoy free WIFI whilst staying in one of your peak district pods?

Free WIFI is available on site for all guests. Depending on your provider you may prefer to use your mobile; there is a good 4G signal, with EE being one of the best. We ask our guests to be patient and avoid downloading or streaming any large files whilst staying with us in a Dove glamping pod. Our wardens can assist with any specific issues or requests, if you are trying to book somewhere to eat or want some local information.

Are you within walking distance to local shops?

The small village of Longnor has a fish and chip shop (please check opening hours and days in advance), pub and small shop and is a 2-mile walk from Longnor Wood across open countryside. We would not recommend walking along the road which does not have any pavements. For additional amenities guests would need to drive to either Buxton< Leek or Bakewell, around 20 minutes’ drive from our 5-star glamping site. Longnor Wood has a small licensed shop on site.

Can I use my own BBQ?

Gas BBQs are available from Reception free of charge. These must be used safely and not placed on the grass or any wooden surface such as the table or decking. Please do not use charcoal or disposal BBQs at the glamping pods. Never take BBQs into your accommodation, a warm BBQ gives off poisonous carbon monoxide which can kill. Own fire pits, the use of BBQs as firepits, or open fires are not allowed. We do have firepits for hire from Reception.

Are there cutlery, plates, bowls and cups in your glamping pods?

Our peak district glamping pods have a 2-ring electric hob, fridge, camping kettle and microwave and a selection of glasses, crockery, pans and utensils. You should not need to bring anything with you when glamping at our campsites Peak District.
