Is Longnor Wood a good campsite for couples?
Yes, if you’re looking for a quiet, adults-only escape where you can properly switch off, Longnor Wood is the perfect choice. Our campsite has been designed with couples in mind to make sure you get the most out of your holidays.
Compared to a busy family campsite, we offer a very different experience where you can properly switch off rather than plan around everything happening around you.
What makes Longnor Wood perfect for couples
Adults-only campsite
Longnor Wood is one of the only adults-only campsites located in the Peak District National Park. This means we only accept guests over the age of 18.
Hot tub accommodation
All of our lodges and static caravans have private hot tubs which can make evenings feel much more relaxed. Rather than heading out or filling the time, this gives you a simple way to wind down together at the end of the day.
Private sauna available
For another way to switch off, especially after a long day exploring, you can hire our private sauna, available to use for any accommodation guests.
Optional extras that add something special
We also offer some extras you can add to your stay before you arrive, such as romance packs. They’re optional, but they can add a bit more intention to the stay, whether it’s marking an occasion or just making the break feel slightly different from a standard weekend. Here are our optional extras available.
Nearby towns and attractions to explore
If you do want to get out and explore, there are plenty of Peak District towns and villages nearby, and don’t forget the infamous Chatsworth House is just a short road trip away! They’re easy to visit without planning too much, so you can still keep the overall feel of the trip relaxed.
What a stay at Longnor Wood feels like…
You arrive and get unpacked, and there’s not much urgency to do anything straight away. It’s usually relaxed from the start, which makes it easy to switch off rather than feel like you need to fill the time.
Days are simple, heading out for a walk, stopping at a local pub or just spending time around the site. There’s enough nearby by to explore but not so much that it needs to turn into a busy itinerary.
Evenings are where the difference really shows. It's noticeably quieter, and people tend to keep to themselves. You might spend time outside, use the hot tub or book the sauna or just simply unwind, taking in the peacefulness.
Who is Longnor Wood ideal for?

- Walkers looking to explore the Peak District
- Dog owners looking for a staycation with their furry friend
- Guests wanting to celebrate special occasions like anniversaries or birthdays
What a stay at Longnor Wood feels like…
Longnor Wood isn't the right campsite if you're travelling with children. As an adults-only campsite, all guests must be aged 18 or over, helping us maintain the peaceful atmosphere many couples come here for.
If you're planning a family holiday instead, our sister campsites offer a similar high standard of facilities in family-friendly settings. Herding Hill Farm in Northumberland is just one mile from Hadrian's Wall, while Drummohr Campsite, near Edinburgh, is ideal for combining a countryside stay with city adventures.
Of course, if you're a parent looking for a little time together, there's always the option of asking the grandparents to help out and enjoying a well-earned couples' break.
How does Longnor Wood compare to other campsites?
Not every campsite offers the same experience. Many campsites are designed to cater for families, larger groups and busy holiday periods, which can mean children's play areas, entertainment and a much livelier atmosphere.
At Longnor Wood, we've chosen to do things differently.
Our focus is on creating a quieter environment where couples can slow down, enjoy the surrounding Peak District and spend quality time together. Combined with private hot tub accommodation, an optional sauna, dog-friendly stays and easy access to walking routes, it's a different kind of camping break, one that's centred around relaxation rather than keeping everyone entertained.
If that's what you're looking for, you'll probably feel right at home here.
So, is Longnor Wood a good campsite for couples?
If you're looking for somewhere peaceful, adults-only and surrounded by the beautiful Peak District, we'd certainly say yes.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, escaping for a weekend or simply wanting a break from everyday life, Longnor Wood gives you the space to slow down, reconnect and enjoy time together without the distractions of a busier campsite.
