Is there public transport to Longnor Wood Derbyshire Hot Tub Lodges?

Longnor Wood is located in a peaceful rural location in the Heart of the Peak District. A car is strongly advised if you are staying with us in one of our holiday lodges here at Longnor Wood as there is no public transport close to our Peak District campsite.

The small village of Longnor is around a 2-mile walk across open countryside and would not be recommended after dark. The narrow roads are unlit and there are no pavements. The pub in the village has recently re-opened.

The nearest train station is Buxton, a 20-minute drive from Longnor Wood.

Having your own transport is always an advantage when staying in a Buxton holiday lodge if you want to make the most of the beautiful Peak District countryside and visit local attractions such as Chatsworth Estate, Heights of Abraham, Poole cavern or Haddon Hall.

Where are your nearest supermarkets?

There will be a small welcome pack in your holiday lodge on arrival with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. We stock a small selection of basic essentials and local produce in our licensed shop, located within the Longnor Wood Reception, including milk, frozen goods, sundries, wine, beer and a selection of local ales and gin. Newspapers can be pre-ordered by 5pm the previous evening.

The nearest town, Buxton, a 20-minute drive, has an Aldi, a Morrison’s and an Iceland. There is also a range of supermarkets in Bakewell and Leek, noth within a 20-minute drive of the holiday park.

What is there to do whilst staying at your luxury Peak District holiday lodges with hot tub?

Our picturesque adults only holiday park is ideally placed to explore the attractions of the Peak District National Park. As a tranquil park we offer our guests the opportunity to relax and unwind and many guests choose not to venture too far from their hot tub lodge. We are located mid-way between the spa town of Buxton and Bakewell, with Matlock also being an easy 30-minute drive. The stately homes of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are only a short drive from Longnor Wood and we offer discounted entrance tickets for sale at Reception (subject to seasonal opening times).

The Peak District is perfect for walking and cycling. Longnor Wood is only a short drive from most of the famous Peak District trails, including the Tissington Trail, Manifold Trail and Monsal Trail. Beautiful Dovedale is easily accessible by car in 30 minutes.

Relaxing in our beautiful surroundings on our 5-star adults only lodge park may also suit. We are perfect for a Peak District romantic break. What is the nearest pub serving food?

The small village of Longnor is around 2 miles away and is accessible on foot across fields and open countryside. It would not be suitable in the dark. We do not recommend walking down the road into the village as there are no pavements and cars travel quite fast. The road is unlit. The pub Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese has recently re-opened. There is still a fish and chip shop but opening hours vary so please check in advance.

There is an abundance of great Peak District pubs just a short drive from the campsite. Our favourites for great food include The Pack Horse Inn 2.5 miles (01298 83618), The Winking Man 4 miles (01538 300361), The Royal Oak 4.5 miles (01298 83288), The Greyhound Inn 5 miles (01298 84782), The Bulls Head 6 miles (01629 812372), The Devonshire Arms 7 miles (01298 84884) and The Charles Cotton Hotel 7 miles (01298 84229).  Longnor Wood is therefore a great Peak District campsite near pubs.

Since the pandemic many of the pubs are operating with reduced opening hours, particularly mid-week, so we would always advise phoning ahead to check and booking if it is likely to be busy. Our wardens can also help you do this, just enquire at our Longnor Wood Reception.

Do you accept stag/hen Parties at Longnor Wood hot tub holiday lodges?

Sorry, we do not accept stag or hen parties at our Tranquil Park. As a low noise policy site, we have couples who book with us for some quality time at our holiday lodges with hot tubs Derbyshire. We do not accept group bookings. Maximum 4 adults in any one booking.

Is there WIFI on site?

Free WIFI is available on site for all guests. Depending on your provider there is a good 4G signal, with EE being one of the best. We ask our guests to avoid downloading or streaming any large files whilst staying with us. Our wardens can assist with any specific issues or requests, if you are trying to book somewhere to eat or want some local information.

Are you within walking distance to local shops?

The small village of Longnor has a pub, fish and chip shop and small shop and is a 3-mile walk from Longnor Wood across open countryside. We would not recommend walking along the road which does not have any pavements. For additional amenities guests would need to drive to either Buxton or Bakewell, both around 20 minutes’ drive from our 5-star holiday park Peak District. Longnor Wood has a small licensed shop on site.
