Bakewell Circular Walk Duration 3 - 3.5 hours, distance approx 9 miles.
Start facing the Rutland Arms Hotel. Head right on the A6 towards Buxton.
Turn right just after the speed camera and head across the footbridge.
After the bridge, cross the road and head up the hill.
Take the middle track and carry on up the hill.
Go through the gate and stay on the track up the hill.
After the first gate, go through the gate to the left and walk diagonally right.
Go through the gate and make your way down the field to the right.
Head through the ‘kissing’ gate and go diagonally left.
Once over the style, take the path to the right. This can be uneven.
After the wood, go through the gate and across the field.
Once over the stone stile, turn left and walk up the road.
At the junction take the left towards Great Longstone.
Go under the bridge and then turn left.
Follow the path over the stile.
Turn right here and head over the field.
Go through the gate and then turn to the left.
Turn right on to the road and follow straight to the end.
Cross the road and follow the path in to the park.
Once across the park take this left hand path.
At the end of the path cross the road and keep heading straight over the stiles.
Go over one of the stiles. Turn left up the road, maybe stop at the Packhorse.
Follow the road round to the right of the Monsal Head Hotel.
Take the path to the right signed for Monsal Viaduct.
Turn left here and head on down to the Monsal Trail.
Now the walk is nice and easy, turn left and keep going.
Leave the trail here, turn left and at the end of the road turn right down the hill.
At the bottom of the hill, head of the bridge and you are back in Bakewell.
